Strawberry was named by Nora, who was 5 at the time. She was a favorite from the beginning because she had a pink collar, she was pink (well, apricot) and she was an observant puppy who looked at us from the time she could open her eyes, studying us, processing her surroundings. She was one of the picks of the litter, so we got to keep her to show, and for Nora, who is not quite ready for a puppy. She showed quite well – at first. She got a few reserves, then I lost her coat (which means I had to shave her and regrow her coat) then got some points showing with Chelsay and Nick, but in the end, she just didn’t have what it took – her Modified Continental didn’t make the judges happy, and her coat faded to cream with daubs of dark apricot. An even coat is part of the AKC poodle standard. Everyone loved her, especially children, and she loved them back, but she wasn’t particularly happy being on the road and so we brought her home. Here she is in one of her shows with Nick. And with her rightful mistress (even though she still lives with me!)

And here she is in just her adorable self, with Nora.
